The economic crisis has provoked and continues to provoke unemployment, job insecurity as well as a marked decline in the quality of life concerning the most socially disadvantaged groups. In this regard, young people are considered one of the most vulnerable of these groups.

This is why UFEC’s Social Action Department has put the INSERsport programme into operation, a program aimed at young people at risk of social exclusion and users of third sector entities with which UFEC has created synergies for networking. This collaboration has expanded and now mainly influences federations and sports clubs which are susceptible to these problems. More than ten sports federations and third sector entities are already involved in the program.

Following the outlines of the Strategic Plan of Sport of the European Union, INSERsport has an impact on sports training, job placements, equality, healthy habits and the inclusion of people with disabilities.

Through this program, young people at risk of social exclusion take up a sport, acquire healthy habits and obtain a federative certificate which enables them to work as instructors and referees. They are contracted for an initial work placement related to what they have studied. With this program we hope that this first job serves as a foot in the door to further work opportunities and, above all, helps to broaden their studies.
